The first edition of SEISMOS 2026 is organized by the National Institute for Earth Physics (NIEP), Romania's leading research institution in seismology, earthquake monitoring, seismic hazard and risk assessment, as well as environmental events and atmospheric monitoring. Its research combines seismic and infrasound observations with other geophysical and atmospheric monitoring techniques to investigate natural and anthropogenic phenomena.
SEISMOS 2026 brings together researchers, professionals, and stakeholders working in seismology and related Earth sciences to share recent scientific advances, exchange knowledge and experience, and explore new directions for research and collaboration.
The programme will include oral presentations and poster sessions, covering a broad range of topics in seismology and Earth sciences.
Accepted extended abstracts will be published in the SEISMOS 2026 Conference Proceedings, to be released after the conference.

Overview:
This session presents advances in earthquake monitoring and modern seismic infrastructures. It will bring together researchers, network operators, and technology developers to discuss the design, operation, and future evolution of local, regional, and global seismic networks.
Contributions are invited on real-time seismology, including rapid data acquisition, processing, and dissemination, as well as the development and implementation of earthquake early warning systems. Particular attention will be paid to microseismicity and induced seismicity, highlighting new methods for detecting small-magnitude events. The session also includes complementary techniques, such as GPS/GNSS and infrasound networks.
By integrating multiple observational systems, the session aims to foster discussions on multidisciplinary approaches that improve our understanding of Earth's dynamic processes and strengthen the capabilities of modern monitoring infrastructures for research, hazard assessment, and civil protection.

Overview: This session addresses recent developments in the assessment of seismic hazard and risk, with a particular focus on ground motion characterization and site effects, as well as innovative methodologies for evaluating earthquake impacts at local, regional, and national scales.
Here are considered communications on soil-structure interaction, seismic vulnerability of buildings and infrastructure, and the application of structural health monitoring systems for evaluating structural performance before, during, and after seismic events.
The session encourages presentations on innovative risk mitigation strategies and engineering solutions that contribute to reducing earthquake losses and enhancing the resilience of the built environment through interdisciplinary collaboration between seismology, geology, geomorphology, geotechnical and structural engineering.

Overview: This session welcomes contributions on the application of geophysical methods for near-surface, environmental, engineering and urban studies, among other topics. These can cover seismic methods (surface-wave analysis, ambient-noise approaches, Horizontal to Vertical Spectral Ratios, etc), electrical and electromagnetic methods, Ground Penetrating Radar applications, gravity and magnetic methods, as well as integrated multi-method investigations.
Submitted abstracts may include methodological developments, field case studies, monitoring approaches and integrated multi-method interpretations. Particular interest is given to applications in complex near-surface settings, including urban areas, infrastructure sites, hydrogeological systems, salt-karst areas, landslide-prone zones, archaeological contexts and other dynamic Earth-surface environments.

Overview: This session tackles how Earth-system science apprises adaptation and resilience to climate-driven hazards. Overview: This session explores education, science communication and public engagement across the broad field of geosciences. It welcomes contributions on innovative approaches to teaching and learning about the Earth and its dynamic processes, including educational tools and resources, field- and inquiry-based learning, digital technologies, teacher training, and formal or non-formal educational activities designed for schools, universities and communities.
Contributions may also address science communication, citizen science and participatory initiatives that connect researchers, educators, authorities and the public. Particular attention is given to improving geoscience literacy, communicating natural hazards and environmental change, encouraging risk awareness and preparedness, and evaluating the impact of educational and outreach programmes. By bringing together geoscientists, educators, science communicators, emergency management professionals and civil society organisations, the session aims to strengthen the connection between Earth science knowledge, informed decision-making and resilient communities.

Poster presenters are requested to prepare their posters using the official SEISMOS poster template.
Please do not change the size or orientation specified in the template. Posters must be prepared in English and should clearly present the objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions of the study.
- Please use the official SEISMOS poster presentation template, provided in PDF format. The poster should be prepared in A0 format, with the following printed dimensions: 84.1 cm width x 118.9 cm height.
- Please maintain the dimensions and orientation provided in the template.
- The title, author names, and affiliations should be clearly displayed at the top of the poster.
- Text, figures, graphs, and tables should be readable from an appropriate viewing distance.
- Presenters are responsible for printing and bringing their posters to the conference venue.
